The Opportunity
A leading financial services organisation is seeking a senior data governance professional to strengthen data risk and control capability within its Banking division.

This role will play a critical part in enhancing enterprise data management practices, improving control effectiveness, and ensuring regulatory expectations are met across a complex operating environment.

You will work at the intersection of business, risk, and technology partnering with senior stakeholders to increase transparency across data flows, uplift governance maturity, and embed sustainable control frameworks.
The Role
This position is focused on improving how data is governed, controlled, and managed across end-to-end business processes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Mapping and documenting end-to-end data flows across systems, teams, and reporting layers
• Identifying data risk exposures and evaluating the design and effectiveness of existing controls
• Conducting structured risk and control assessments across business units
• Partnering with risk, compliance, technology, and operational stakeholders to remediate gaps
• Facilitating workshops to assess process integrity, control sufficiency, and accountability
• Supporting the enhancement of enterprise data governance frameworks and standards
• Contributing to governance maturity uplift initiatives across a regulated banking environment
• Leveraging modern tools (including AI-assisted workflows where appropriate) to improve documentation, assessment, and reporting processes
• This is a highly visible role requiring strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to operate across multiple functions.

What You Bring

• 8+ years' experience in data governance, data risk, information risk, or control management within a large enterprise
• Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks in regulated financial services environments
• Experience conducting data control assessments and identifying gaps across complex ecosystems
• Proven ability to document and analyse end-to-end data processes and dependencies
• Confidence facilitating workshops and influencing senior stakeholders
• Experience contributing to governance capability uplift or transformation programmes
• Strong analytical thinking with the ability to challenge assumptions constructively
• Familiarity with data governance tooling and enterprise documentation practices
• An adaptable mindset, comfortable operating in both structured regulatory settings and evolving delivery environments
