Hands on FC role on the North Shore of SydneyAn established global organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of financial accounting, month end close and statutory reporting for a defined business unit. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high quality financial outcomes while partnering closely with both local and regional stakeholders.
This is a hands on controllership role with end to end responsibility for the integrity of the financial statements and the effectiveness of financial controls.

The Role

Reporting into a regional finance lead, you will be responsible for managing the accounting close, reviewing financial results and ensuring compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements. You will work across multiple finance teams including tax, treasury, shared services and FP&A to deliver accurate and timely reporting.

You will also contribute to finance transformation initiatives and continuous improvement projects designed to enhance controls, processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Control

• Own the month end and year end close process for assigned entities
• Review profit and loss and balance sheet results including variance analysis and trend commentary
• Ensure financial statements present a true and fair view in line with IFRS and local statutory requirements
• Maintain strong oversight of balance sheet reconciliations and resolve open items
• Review accruals, provisions and judgement based accounting items
• Coordinate internal and external audit requirements and provide supporting documentation
• Support internal control frameworks and remediation activities

Process Improvement

• Drive improvements in financial controls, reporting quality and close efficiency
• Support standardisation and optimisation initiatives across finance
• Partner with shared services to improve upstream and downstream processes

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as a key finance contact for business stakeholders and regional finance teams
• Collaborate closely with tax, treasury and FP&A functions
• Provide clear financial insights to support decision making

About You

• 4 or more years experience in financial accounting, controllership or related roles
• Background in a multinational or complex corporate environment is highly regarded
• Strong technical accounting knowledge including IFRS and statutory reporting
• Degree qualified in Accounting or Finance with CA CPA or ACCA preferred
• Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems
• Confident communicator with the ability to work across functions and influence stakeholders
• Detail oriented, resilient and comfortable working to deadlines in a fast paced environment
