About the role

As a Full Stack Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering end-to-end digital solutions that bring complex business and technology journeys to life. You will be a valued member of our Technology Consulting team, working collaboratively with architects, platform engineers, and client stakeholders to build scalable, cloud-native systems from user experience through to backend services.

This role suits engineers who enjoy working across the full stack, validating architectural designs through real execution, and contributing to large-scale, mission-critical platforms.

In this role, you will:

• Design and deliver end-to-end application features across frontend, APIs, and backend services
• Build scalable, cloud-native solutions aligned to modern architectural patterns and platform standards
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services that support reliable, secure system workflows
• Collaborate closely with architects and delivery teams to validate solution designs through working software
• Contribute to quality engineering practices, including automated testing, reliability, and performance considerations

Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Sydney, New South Wales. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.

What you must have to be considered

• Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer / Engineer delivering production-grade systems
• Strong backend development experience using Node.js / TypeScript or equivalent modern stacks
• Frontend development experience with modern frameworks such as React
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts, including reliability, consistency, and failure handling

These will help you succeed

• Experience building solutions on AWS or comparable cloud platforms
• Exposure to event-driven or asynchronous architectures and modern integration patterns
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native deployment models
• Strong testing mindset, including automated testing across multiple layers
• Experience working in large-scale, regulated, or data-critical environments
