About Our Client

Our client is a commercial bank, and they are seeking a skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our Legal Department. The successful candidate will provide legal advice and support across the Bank's business lines, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements while facilitating commercial initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, regulators, and external counsel.

Job Description

• Provide timely, practical legal advice on banking, commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters.
• Support business units on the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of financial products and services.
• Advise on legal risks associated with new business initiatives, digital platforms, and strategic projects.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including: loan and security documentation, ISDA/GMRA/GMSLA and other trading agreements, vendor, outsourcing, and technology contracts, and customer-facing and third-party agreements
• Ensure consistency with internal policies and regulatory standards.
• Monitor changes in banking laws, financial regulations, and industry guidelines.
• Support regulatory filings, inspections, and communications with regulators.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks in day-to-day operations.
• Assist in developing and maintaining legal policies, templates, and governance frameworks.
• Provide training to business teams on legal and regulatory topics.
• Manage litigation, disputes, and contentious regulatory matters in coordination with external counsel when necessary.

The Successful Applicant

• Qualified lawyer of HK
• 6+ years of PQE, ideally from a reputable law firm or a financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of banking, financial services, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to balance legal risk with commercial priorities.
• High integrity, sound judgment, and strong stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
