We're supporting a long-term DB calculations contract working on complex benefit structures and automation within UK occupational pension schemes.

The role

This contract focuses on the analysis and build of high-quality DB pension calculations. You'll be working from Trust Deed and Rules and other scheme documentation, translating requirements into accurate, efficient and maintainable calculation solutions.

You'll collaborate with other analysts and engage with third parties such as scheme actuaries and solicitors to resolve technical queries. There's a strong emphasis on quality, continuous improvement and end-to-end automation, with opportunities to contribute to standards, best practice and process optimisation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Analysing scheme documentation and business requirements to design calculation solutions
• Producing detailed calculation proformas from first principles
• Supporting automation testing and optimisation
• Managing tasks and deadlines effectively
• Contributing to continuous improvement and automation initiatives
• Working collaboratively within virtual teams while also operating independently

Required experience

• Strong background in UK DB occupational pensions
• Solid knowledge of historical UK pensions legislation
• Strong understanding of contracting-out requirements, including GMP
• Proven ability to work through complex problems and implement solutions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and learning new tools

Nice to have

• Exposure to Unix-based systems, command line or SQL (training available)
• Experience helping define standards and best practice
