About your team
Japan Product Team has a clear mandate to provide a high-quality product strategy that positions FIL's Japan Business for growth in an evolving competitive environment. The development, iteration, and syndication of our Product Strategies will transpire through effective collaboration with our distribution teams, our investment teams as well as with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Japan Product Team is responsible for Product related decision making, life-cycle range management, market insights as well as supporting local distribution strategies. Japan Product Team is also responsible for the implementation of new fund launches and closures and change management across the various product ranges distributed in Japan region.
About your role
You will form part of a fast-paced Product organization that drives the business towards future revenue and asset growth through development and implementation of investment solutions for wholesale and institutional customers. Japan Product Delivery Team is looking for a candidate who will engage in many aspects of product designing, planning, implementation, and management as well as product ideation. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out and help formulate product rollout planning, coordination, facilitation and execution, product review, restrucruring, and maintenance, product governance management in addition to participating in product strategies discussions. The candidate is expected to lead and collaborate with multiple teams and offices around the globe on a variety of key initiatives. This role requires a strong desire to be part of the change agenda to shape the future business direction at FIL.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify demand/requirement for investment products and solutions through direct engagement and collaboration with Product Development, Distribution, Investment Management and other Client Propositions teams.
- Study regulatory framework and trends that affects investment management business, distribution business, investors, capital markets, taxation, registration, and accounting.
- Monitor and research academic papers, consultant papers, capital market developments, market trends, asset flows, peer funds/strategies, and new fund launches.
- Deliver new investment disciplines through product design, definition and implementation around such areas as: target return/alpha/tracking error, investment style, asset class, allocation, benchmark, fund structure, dividends distribution, pricing, and disclosure requirements.
- Manage and maintain Japan product range. Precisely and timely bring deliverables with Product Developent, Distribution, Investment Management, Operations and related teams.
- Manage product related initiatives as lead, covering such initiatives as new fund launches, fund closures, corporate actions, strategic initiatives and regulatory changese.
- Conduct product governance properly. Run the regular governance committee appropriately. Manage annual process for fund review and rationalization and confirm the direction with Product Developent, Distribution, Investment Management and others.
- Lead internal discussions on product changes or modifications and facilitate with the Investment Management team as needed.
- Participate in regional and global product forums to represent local business interests.
- Function as internal gate keeper for investment capacity.
- Engage in new business cases for the Japan wholsale and institutional businesses.
About you
The ideal candidate possesses the following skills and experience:
- Self-starter with entrepreneurial, flexible, and proactive attitudes who can work as a core member of the team
- Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) as s/he is expected to actively engage with Distribution, Investment Manegament and other internal functions to develop business as well as to participate in client meetings externally as needed
- Native or advanced business level language skills in both Japanese and English (oral and written)
- Capacity and patience to work in a dynamically changing large scale global organization
- Good project management skills and experiences in leading projects or initiatives at mid to large scale companies
- Strong knowledges and wealth of experiences in investments, operations, and product delivery and development
- Strong sense of responsibilities and coolaboration, acute sense of business, and sense of urgency whenever necessary
