Description
Our client is a leading Hong Kong-based property developer with a diverse portfolio spans residential, commercial, retail, and industrial properties, as well as hospitality operations and comprehensive property services. The company continues to expand its presence both locally and internationally.Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Manage the preparation and review of all Hong Kong profits tax returns for the Group's entities, including property development projects, investment holding companies, and hospitality operations.
- Oversee tax compliance for international operations as the Group continues to expand globally.
- Handle stamp duty matters for property acquisitions, disposals, and leasing transactions across the portfolio.
- Manage property tax assessments and liaise with the Rating and Valuation Department on property-related tax matters.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors, ensuring timely filing and accurate reporting.
Transaction & Structuring Support
- Provide tax due diligence and structuring advice for property acquisitions, development projects, and disposals.
- Advise on the tax-efficient structuring of joint ventures and development partnerships.
- Support investment activities, including evaluation of tax implications for new business initiatives.
- Collaborate with the corporate finance team on treasury matters, debt financing, and other funding structures.
Business Partnering
- Work closely with property development, investment, and hospitality business units to provide tax guidance on operational matters.
- Support property services divisions on tax implications related to facilities management, maintenance, and other service operations.
- Advise on tax considerations for community and charitable initiatives, aligning with the Group's broader purpose-driven mission.
Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure robust tax governance and internal controls in line with the Group's commitment to strong corporate governance.
- Monitor legislative changes affecting Hong Kong and international taxation, assessing their impact on the Group's operations.
- Support the Audit and Risk Committee with tax-related reporting and risk assessments.
- Manage tax audits and disputes with tax authorities.
Planning & Strategy
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the Group's effective tax rate and maximize cash flow.
- Support strategic initiatives aligned with the Group's sustainability objectives, ensuring tax strategies consider broader stakeholder impacts.
- Identify tax incentives and reliefs applicable to the Group's operations and sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master's degree in Taxation or MBA preferred.
- HKICPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification required.
- Minimum 6-8 years of tax experience, with focused on Hong Kong property/real estate industry, ideally gained from a combination of Big 4 public accounting and in-house experience.
- Deep expertise in Hong Kong profits tax, property tax, and stamp duty.
- Strong understanding of tax implications for property development cycles, investment holding structures, and hospitality operations.
- Knowledge of international tax principles for cross-border operations.
- Familiarity with tax accounting standards and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax software applications.
- Strong business partnering skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts into practical business advice for non-tax stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin (written and spoken).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, diversified business environment.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail, aligned with the Group's values of transparency and governance.
