Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow position to work with Professor Yue Qian in the Department of Sociology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Applicants should have (i) a Ph.D. in Sociology, Demography, Family Studies, or other related disciplines; (ii) the ability to conduct independent research, with an outstanding track record of publications in English-language journals; (iii) proficiency in advanced quantitative data analysis, with excellent skills using Stata, R, Python, and/or other statistical software; and (iv) an excellent command of written and spoken English. Candidates who have experience with computational methods or computational approaches to family and gender research are welcome to apply.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) conducting high-quality research in one or more of the following areas: gender, digitalisation and family change, and the family-work interface, with a focus on China, the United States, Canada, and/or cross-national comparisons; (b) preparing manuscripts for publication in leading academic journals; (c) writing public-facing articles, such as op-eds, policy briefs, or media commentaries; and (d) performing other duties as assigned.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year commencing 1 June 2027 or as soon as possible, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
