Description
About TravelokaTraveloka is Southeast Asia's leading travel and lifestyle super-app. We connect tens of millions of travellers across the region with flights, hotels, experiences, financial services, and more - all from a single platform. Since our founding in 2012, we have expanded to eleven markets, processed billions of dollars in transactions, and built one of the most recognised consumer brands in the region.
We move fast because the region demands it. Southeast Asia is young, mobile-first, and growing faster than almost anywhere else on earth. We are not transplanting a Western playbook - we are writing a new one, from scratch, for a market that does not look like anywhere else - and we are calling for people who want to be part of that.
About the Team
The Controller team is where Traveloka's numbers become trusted. We own accounting, tax, and the controls that keep a multi-market super-app accurate, audit-ready, and compliant across eleven jurisdictions - each with its own rules, currencies, and regulators. In a low-margin industry, clean books and sharp controls are not back-office hygiene; they are how we protect every cent of margin and earn the confidence to move fast.
Here you close the books, sharpen tax positions, and build finance operations that scale with the business rather than slow it down. You will work close to the transactions that power millions of bookings, turning messy real-world complexity into reporting people actually rely on. If you take pride in precision and want your rigour to shape real decisions, this is your seat.
About the Job
As a principal-level individual contributor in the Controller function, at P5 in Finance Operations you develop and implement operational plans and processes tied to the domain's priorities, with direct impact on its overall results - yet you deliver through your own advanced expertise, not by managing a team. The problems are genuinely complex, weighing operational and financial impact at once, and you propose inputs and persuade on the right course without holding the decision rights.
- Design and implement operational plans and process changes for a major area (AP, AR, intercompany, or close) that measurably improve the domain's accuracy, speed, and control performance
- Personally own the most complex, multi-entity, multi-currency operations work, applying well-developed theory and experience to problems with no clean precedent
- Lead the technical execution of month-end and reporting deliverables for your scope within reporting and filing deadlines
- Resolve the highest-stakes discrepancies and judgement calls - where operational and financial consequences both bite - that others cannot
- Enhance existing processes and controls, typically as part of a project team driving improvements within the domain
- Set the technical standard for reconciliations, accruals, and controls and bring analysts up to it through expertise, not line authority
- Persuade and convince auditors and senior stakeholders of your technical position, even where final authority sits elsewhere
Job Requirements
- You have at least 6 years in finance and accounting, with deep specialist mastery of controllership operations
- You shape how the work runs - designing operating processes - while delivering through your own hands, not a team
- You have deep command of reconciliations, accruals, controls, and the close process across entities
- You are fluent in ERP-based operations (e.g. Oracle) and confident with the data behind your numbers
- You set the technical bar and lift others through expertise, without owning their performance or development
- You communicate clearly and credibly with finance leadership, auditors, and business partners
- You thrive under deadline pressure and keep quality high when the pace is fast
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; a professional qualification is strongly preferred
- You actively look for and drive efficiency and control improvements that reach beyond your own tasks
- You have designed or re-engineered a close or reconciliation process that materially cut cycle time or risk
- You have served as the technical anchor on a finance transformation or system migration
- You bring Big 4 or MNC rigor to operational standards, and holding a CPA, ACCA, or CA qualification would be a strong plus.
