The Position:
The Japan Data Center market is rapidly growing and has been identified as a key market for STACK APAC. As such, we are building out our in-country business and delivery capability to support our current market opportunities in Tokyo and Osaka.
STACK's Senior Project Manager, Japan is a key role to manage and develop data center facilities as part of a robust and market leading Design & Delivery team. As an experienced Project Delivery Professional, the successful candidate will be a detailed focused, forward-thinking manager who is able to be strategic and see the big picture as well as being able to dive into the technical details of the project design, procurement & Construction activities and actions.
• Manage the end-to-end delivery of assigned Projects, working collaboratively with the various Project Contributors, Stakeholders and associated project team members to ensure a successful outcome.
• Ensure compliance with STACK standard delivery best practice, project governance & Stage-gate approvals, utilizing our Project Delivery Tools and Technology Platform.
• Manage appointed General Contractors, Suppliers, Vendors and Consultants on key projects from award through to completion, ensuring delivery aligned to key project goals and requirements.
• Maintain and manage cost control and change control processes ensuring project cost control throughout with all contractors and vendors.
• Develop and maintain project schedules / programs, identifying key critical path activities, manage and agree programs with all parties and monitor providing regular updates.
• Identify, track and report on all key risks which may be affecting the projects. Develop and implement mitigation plans to address and mitigate risks.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with both consultants, contractors and supply vendors in market.
• Be client facing, interacting with local client teams, developing tailored solutions aligned to their requirements, structured and regular reporting cadence on project deliverables, progress, Safety & Cost as relevant.
• Passionate about the Data Center industry and be an innovator, always looking to bring the forefront of technology into our projects to achieve and exceed our Sustainability, Safety & Efficiency goals.
• Be Safety Focused on all times and stages of project delivery, work collaboratively with STACK Safety Leadership, embody and lead by example our in Safety Best Practices and Conduct.
• Experienced in Lean Project Management methodologies, tools & processes to drive highly efficient and empowered project teams on fast-track delivery.
• 10+ years in project delivery in Data Centers with at least 5 years within the Japan Market.
• Reporting directly to the project director of Delivery, and well communication paths to other stakeholders.
• Support project director to ensure that assigned tasks and project to be succeeded.
• Maintain yourself and your staff for STACK guidelines and corporate policy that Teamwork, Hard Work, Excellence, and fine quality.
• Act as team leader of the project, prompt reporting to your supervisors.
Key Details:
Location: Tokyo and/or Osaka, Japan.
Travel: 15-20%.
Language: Japanese; Secondary English (Business Level - Spoken & Written).
Must-have Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineer, Project Management, or relevant built environment field.
• 5+ years progressive experience in Data Center delivery, with a minimum of 5 years delivering in Japan.
• Deep experience in data centers; familiarity with hyperscale clients.
• Work Experience of Project Controls and Implementing Project Controls during both Design and Construction phases of projects.
• Working experience leading and collaborating on 3D Design Tools, BIM process & methodology and implementation of 4D/5D design principles.
• Experience in Project Management Platforms such as Procore, Clarizen or equivalent.
• Experienced and competent in MS Project or Primavera P6, equivalent softwares.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
